Harrods Christmas Grotto

Last week I took the boys to see Santa. Although we do not celebrate christmas, Santa was not invented for religious purposes. The boys fully understand they do not celebrate, they also know the distinction between those who celebrate and those that do not, but i think its nice to still take them to festive fun activities, and feel a sense of inclusion within one of the biggest UK holidays of the year. I also grew up celebrating christmas, so the boys will always see that one side of their family does celebrate to a certain extent. I do not mind if they are bought gifts etc from family or friends, but they know Not to expect these things automatically. some may disagree with me and thats fine, but you can still enjoy the holiday without celebrating christmas itself. Its a UK holiday for which everyone can enjoy some time off. You can still have fun during this time of year  and come together with your family and friends because not everybody always gets a chance to. Each year we spend the day at my mums, I see no issue in that, Im perfectly happy to observe christmas in a non-religious way and get involved in the festive side of it.

I took the boys to the Harrods Grotto in Knightsbridge, we also went with my close friend and her bubba. We had an 8.30pm slot (late I know) but the demand for the harrods grotto is crazy! as soon as bookings where open in September the slots went like gold dust!

As the boys walked in it looked like they had stepped into Santa's workshop. There was toys and games to play while we waited to see Santa.

As they made their way round, they had to help the elfs throw the presents in the sack. stand on the naughty or nice child monitor, and of course the arrow pointed to nice (must of been broken!). They made music with feet and constantly kept asking the elfs ''wheres santa'' lol.

The elfs finally took us through a corridor and told the boys to go and knock...

about to walk into to see santa
The boys opened the door and Zak shouted ''Santa!'' and he greeted all 3 of the boys. To be honest the kids did not even really care what father christmas was saying to them they just wanted to know where their presents were!!
We got to take some photos, but on the stores camera of course which then we had to buy if we wanted them, I purchased a couple of them because they came out really nice. I also tried to take couple sly ones on my phone but santa caught me (the shame lol)

It was home time, and the boys really enjoyed themselves, I would recommend #HarrodsChristmasGrotto to anyone. I highly doubt there is any space left for this year but be ready for next year because as soon as they open the bookings they are gone in an instant! It doesn't cost much either, you pay for the amount of adults attending then when you arrive it gets refunded on to your Harrods loyalty card for you to spend in store.

Whether you celebrate christmas or not, I wish everyone a lovely time over the Xmas period. H x
